Welcome to Evexia Care
Living Well after Cancer
Evexia Care Provides Cancer Survivorship Care Plans
Evexia Care can enhance recovery from cancer treatment side effects such as fatigue, cognitive changes such as "chemo brain", neuropathy and metabolic changes such as weight gain or bone density loss. Evexia can help address fear of recurrence, work/life/relationship concerns or body changes that cancer and its treatment has caused
We know you may have been through biopsies, sometimes multiple, many different tests including scans and blood tests, surgery or multiple surgeries in addition to radiation, chemotherapy, and or other newer therapies such as antibody therapies as well as novel immunotherapies. You may also have been or are participating in a clinical trial.
You may have been fit and healthy prior to your diagnosis and now need the knowledge of how to safely regain that feeling, or may see your cancer diagnosis challenge you to care for your body and mind better and wonder just how to do it. You may ask what the effects are on body and or mind that your cancer treatment may cause in the coming years. For example: will I age more rapidly because of my cancer treatment and how can I change that?
Given how varied and personalised treatment can be for cancer these days, we believe that it is important to provide individualised care in a long consultation with our Consultant Physicians to develop your Survivorship Care Plan, which will provide a roadmap to recover to a new level of wellness and health.
Our Mission
We believe that there is an important need to care for a wide range of symptoms and complications that arise following completion of cancer treatment, that are not being adequately addressed. Our physician-based approach specialises in the provision of this holistic and individualised care to our patients, with the cornerstone of this treatment being the Survivorship Care Plan.
Our aim is not to change your patient's cancer care management or to provide a second opinion of their specialist's advice. It is to enhance your patient’s understanding of the effects of their treatment now and possibly into the future on their body and how we can reduce these through a structured individual care plan for their health. These effects may not only be physical but emotional, financial and social. When should you be referred to Evexia Care
Many patients wish to find out more about their health and care after completing their cancer treatments. Being provided with a Survivorship Care Plan and what to look out for is a natural next step in recovery. Some may be seeking more of this information before their treatments have finished.
Many health organisations recognise you as a survivor from the time you are diagnosed. It is not too soon to come if you feel the need for more information on what life could be like after treatment or what you can do during treatment to make your recovery quicker.
Other patients treated in years past may have specific concerns that become more obvious as the years go by. You can be referred at any time.
Hopefully many of you were well supported from diagnosis and beyond and your questions answered along the way. Completing cancer therapy often carries a feeling of mixed emotions- that of completing treatment that brings relief it is over and for others a feeling of exhaustion, uncertainty and possibly of loss. Loss may be from no longer having the regular contact with all the teams of nurses, doctors, care workers and others that have seen you so intensively during your treatment.
You may also be experiencing fears of recurrence. You may be uncertain how to deal with this. You may want to know what to look out for were the cancer to return and who should you contact if you are worried. Being provided with a Survivorship Care Plan will not only provide you with a structure to maintain wellness but also a process to follow that may lessen those fears.
